I am redecorating my kitchen..does anyone know where to get ideas?

My home is almost ten years old…started with the basics in decorating my kitchen. Now I have the opportunity to revamp it…colors I have chosen are in the teal family. My friend suggested browns, reds, earthy tones. I have looked at hobby lobby, michaels, Ross, etc. but can not find anything interesting. Does anyone know where I can find such items at discount or do it yourself stores?????
Any themes that I should go with????

Hi! I would like to buy a few Star Trek hobby kits (USS Enterprise 1701 & 1701-A). I am quite a beginner, so I would prefer to start on cheaper (if less accurate) models to get the feel of it, then progress on. Is there a website or store that sells model kits at a reasonable price (since I will probably spoilt the first few)?

I don’t mind getting “old” kits eg AMT/ERTL kits although I prefer not to buy over Ebay as I have no experience with it.

I pay all the bills though both of us contribute to the household income. The item in question is on discount and because it is part of their hobby. It is not something that is needed in the home as they already have a smaller one but just WANT it because it is bigger. and on sale. I was asked if they could buy it I said no and now they are mad at me. I told them that we need other items at this time and the money should go for that. Why do they do that? Why ask at all?

It looks legitimate it says brand new. It is 62.00 dollars and retail price is 86.00. If they happen to rip me off or send me a missing piece. What do I do? I want to take $1,000 and start trading (just as a hobby), but if I’m paying $7 per trade (or even $4) there’s no way that I could make any profit because of my small dolllar amount and frequency of trades (I want to trade, not hold onto long term investments). I am just starting up a small business in face painting (getting licensing, insurance…yadda yadda…) I have been doing this for over 10 years as a hobby and casually had been using a “business name” to call myself when I set up at local festivals.
Now that I’m making my business official, I just filed this name as my fictitious business name with my county here in California and they told me it was available to use. After looking up online…there is another face painter in Utah who uses the exact same name. I have asked different resources and get different answers…some say it’s OK because they are not federally trademarked and that it’s in a different state and some say I could get sued for common law infringement.
Does anyone out there really know and give me advice about this situation? I appreciate it tons! Thanks!

As a hobby I make handcrafted bath & body items for family & friends. Recently I was asked to supply a local retailer with a large volume of my products. I can supply the product, my question is how do I handle the sale? Should I sell the product at wholesale or should I sell the product at retail and offer some type of volume discounting? Like 5 or 10% off, also should I ask for a deposit, and if so how much, thanks.

Where can I find clear glass heart-shaped ornaments?

I’m looking for the clear ornaments that you can paint yourself by swirling paint inside, but I would prefer to have the heart-shaped ones rather than round. I’ve looked at Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, Ben Franklin, the Christmas Depot, Sunshine Discount Crafts, Oriental Trading Company. So far the only place I have found them was on eBay. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I am looking for a hobby magazine that’s just about radio controlled helicopters. I have a copy of Fly RC, and it looks good, but it covers radio controlled model airplanes mostly. Sense R/C helicopters are much harder to master, it looks like there would be a hobby magazine that is devoted to the radio controlled helicopter hobby. Ideally I would like a magazine that would not only cater to the experienced R/C helicopter pilots, but would help the newbies like myself as well. There are just so many models out there for the beginner to chose from. The Chinese imports alone are too numerous to count, and their affordable! Then there are the hop-up parts, a whole cottage industry has sprung up around, making improvements in the basic Chinese imports. Can anybody give me an Internet site that will list all of the radio controlled helicopter hobby magazines? I know there must be several out there.

Where to buy Saltwater Aquarium Fish and Supplies either Wholesale or really cheap?

I think I am going to go nuts. My once very close 1st cousin enjoys calling me only to compare her child to mine and vice verse. They live in a very metropolitan area, so her baby (same age as mine) goes to zoos and aquariums more than my country baby. My baby can look outside and see a variety of wildlife and we take her fishing, so at age two, she can tell you the difference from a bass and a rainbow trout.

I’ve been working with my little girl to teach her colors, counting to 10, shapes, ABC’s and even a little bit of my hobby…astronomy. She knows Jupiter, Earth, and Saturn when she sees them in a book or on the internet. She knows we are in “space” living on Earth. She knows the moon and the sun and points them out. We aren’t super rich or pretentious or trying to push out 2 year old baby to speak Mandarin and six Cantonese dialects, so by a lot of standards, we are slacker parents. We’re big on common knowledge, sharing what we as parents know with our kids and age appropriate basics. My cousin pays like $250 a week to put her child in some high speed little kids academy remniscient of the rival preschool on Daddy day Care. I never call her bragging about my baby, because I feel there’s no reason to brag. All kids are different and special in their own ways. Her baby talks to people on command on the phone, but mine doesn’t, even though she speaks well. She’s more fascinated with how this device has a familiar voice inside of it. Now if mine saw you in person, she would talk your ear off. Bottom line is, my cousin thinks that her kid is like the guru of babies, and if your kid is not following her pattern, they are handicapped or deprived.

I want to tell her in a nice way that I’m tired of this comparing crap. I don’t return this behavior to her, I try and change the subject but she always wanders back to, “So, how big is you baby now? I remember she was such a fat baby. Are you still feeding her pureed porkchops?” Or, “My baby went to the zoo yesterday and she could name so many of the animals. What is your baby doing these days?”

And to think, back in the day…she and I used to be like twin sisters!!

I get as irritated as anyone else about propaganda overseas – portraying us as the “great satan.” My intention is not to tell you there’s no evil in the world. I know there is.

Let’s be fair on both ends, here. How many parinoid stories have we fallen for in our own culture? We’ve been through at least three big red scares, the terrorists, Y2K, inquititions and witch trials. Roswell even. There’s been stories coming out of our churches for over a hundred years about “who really murdered Christ.” The Jews of course.

Look at the entertainment of even little children in our culture. What’s the recurring theme in cartoons over and over. Some diabolical charactor. Some dark figure. Oh, save us, Batman!!

We teach our children that those who don’t pick up our box of personal opinion will be thrown in fire by God. That anyone who feels differently than we do, votes for someone we don’t, or looks differant than us is bad and will be damned.

Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal said today that he will lead the prosecution of the man accused of killing Houston police Officer Rodney Johnson.

Referring to it as “coming out of retirement,” Rosenthal said he could not recall the last time he took part in prosecuting a case, but guessed that it has been two or three years.

A judge, meanwhile, ordered this morning that Juan Leonardo Quintero remain in the County Jail without bail.

Quintero, 32, is charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting of Johnson near Hobby Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Johnson had stopped Quintero, a Mexican national, for a traffic violation and arrested him because he had no identification. Police said Johnson failed to detect that Quintero had a pistol hidden in his clothing.

Quintero, although handcuffed, managed to get his hands in front of him, pull the gun and kill Johnson while locked in the backseat cage of the officer’s patrol car, investigators said.

Rosenthal said this is a “bizarre” case because Quintero is accused of killing Johnson even though Quintero was locked in the back of the car and could not escape.

In this morning’s hearing, state District Judge Joan Campbell granted a defense request for funds for such expenses as hiring an investigator.

Rosenthal said he believes Quintero could come to trial sometime next spring. The next step in the case will be another court hearing in 15 days, he said, and the case could go to a county grand jury shortly after that.

The arrest of Quintero has renewed debate over the enforcement of immigration laws and HPD’s policy of not questioning suspects about their residency.

Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt appeared on ABC television’s “Good Morning America,” this morning where he accused the federal government of not properly securing the nation’s borders.

With 250,000 to 400,000 illegal immigrants believed to be living in the Houston area, Hurtt said the resources are not available for HPD officers to assume a greater role in immigration enforcement.

“I would need another 2,500 officers,” Hurtt said. Hurtt was interviewed for the ABC program from Charlotte, N.C., where he is attending a meeting of the Major Cities Chiefs Assocation that he heads.

Quintero was deported as an illegal felon in 1999, following a charge of indecency with a child, HPD officials said.

Court records show Quintero was given deferred adjudication in that case.

His previous criminal record included an arrest for driving while intoxicated, for driving with a suspended licensed and for failing to stop and give information after an automobile accident, HPD officials said.

I want to do this course at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in downtown, but the problem is, I have no way to get there. I’M going to pay full tuition (my mom doesn’t like the fact that I don’t want to be a doctor)…and I asked my mom and her boyfriend if they would be able to take me…my mom said that she didn’t think her boss would let her get off at 3:30 (the class is from 4:30-6:00)every Wednesday for two and a half months (and if he[her boss] did, she’d have to give up getting out of work at four every Friday for TWO 1/2 MONTHS. Boo stinkin’ hoo[sorry])….and I asked her boyfriend, and he said that it would be impossible for him..and I can understand THAT…he has a very fluctuating work schedule…so I need some other ways to get to the Hobby Center (Houston) every Wednesday (my mom could at least pick me up) safely and on time….who are some ppl that I could ask…or what kind of public transportation could I take?
I need to get to downtown Houston from Northwest Houston.

Obviously it is a hobby that will be able to produce a little bit of income. I’m looking for good books for beginners, tips, pretty much any advice I can get. I don’t have a truck, but I’m willing to put in the effort into making it a hobby of mine. I’m very interested in not only scrapping the metal, but cleaning it up and forming ingots to be sold to recycling centers or using for artwork. I’m open to suggestions and ideas, thank you.
