I started group that does charity work, where do I put it on a resume?

25 May

I started a group of comedians that perform for free at charitable events. I have even put a few events together on my own. Where do I put this on a resume? Should I put it under employment or hobbies. Is it acceptable to put a specific place for volunteer work?

What do I put on an application/ resume for work experience when I have no formal work experience?

30 Apr

All I have is an internship on a political campaign and some babysitting experience and community service. I have a high school diploma and one semester of college as far as education. Everything else I have is just from hobbies or is self-taught. How do I have a full resume and make it stand out when this is all I have to work with? Please help!

should you include hobbies and interests in your resume when applying to graduate school(or medical school)?

22 Apr

This is what I have under my hobbies and interests section of my resume:

-Played the piano for 9 years. Played at many recitals
-Plays golf for enjoyment
-Study of egyptology
-Excellent manga (japanese cartoon) artist
-Interest in asian popular culture including Korean dramas, Japanese manga and anime

When applying to medical school or gradute level institutions of higher education, will this type of hobbies section on my resume look too personal? Will the admissions committee even care? Should I cut this section off?

If your cats were writing their CV (resume) what would they list as hobbies?

Mine spend most of their waking hours sunbathing or chasing insects in the garden. If I’m available they’ll nag me for food or attention, of course.
