Good hobbies and things to do on free time?

My life turned around. I just started 10th grade and I am changed. I stop playing video games ALL THE TIME and I am not that nerd anymore. For the first year of my life I starting taking school extremely seriously. I am doing all my homework and studying for tests. I do after school clubs and sports. But now I want to get into those kind of hobbies or whatever you want to call them. What are some big hobbies to take like learning karate, or piano or working out like those kind of hobbies. Any ideas?
When is the best time to start a small flower garden?

I live in suburban NJ 2 miles from the shoreline and would like to start a small flower garden, nothing difficult or extravagant, just a few of the easiest flowers to grow for beginners. I want so badly to develop a hobby out of this.
I was wondering if anyone knows the best time to plant in my area of the country- could i start now and see some results before summer ends? I don’t mind if they die, as long as i get some practice in. Or should i grow flowers in doors in the winter time and plant them next spring.
Also, What are some good flower combinations that are easy for a very new gardener.

I really am stuck trying to figure this out. He’s a great guy – we share the same obscure hobbies (like roleplaying, and board games,) we have the same sense of humor but we also have very stark differences. He is a very direct person who continually complains about my lack of “courtesy” to people – despite the fact that I’ve been involved in politics my entire life and know how to act courteous.
I have tried to be more thoughtful towards others and have really made an attempt. It doesn’t seem to matter though. Every night before we go to sleep, he incites an argument with me about how bad I was that day and how I wasn’t polite to anyone – when I have been obviously trying my best.
He says I am selfish and have to do everything on my time and that I am too analytical and don’t pay enough attention to him when I am on the computer for a few hours doing work.
I don’t know what to do, I care about him, and he treats me well outside of this, but the anguish: can it be worth it
Should I stay living with my husband/best friend even if we both say that we need some time to grow up?

We are not intrested in going to meet new people, we just want to be able to get into our hobbies and do the things we want to do without having to grow up so fast and think about what the other person will think.
its ok if i have separate hobbies from my partner? he makes me feel guilty or wierd when i spend time away?

I find that I sometimes just get this look of astonishment…
I don’t want to dumb-down my answers, but I am learning that there are a lot of DUMB people in the world.
My hobbies are Photography, Egyptology, studying Haiku’s, Reading, working on models, Sculpture, and I collect Hatori’s and Obi’s.
(the egyptology thing always freaks them out and so does the haiku’s, and the obvious question of what are hatori’s and obi’s).
-it actually gives me a chance to explain some of my life to them when I explain what these things are… I kind of like that little break- and it makes MY INTERVIEW a little more personal. I was also told to make an impression that they will remember…
should i just start saying something like “shopping, family and friends”?
once i get the job, won’t they know about me anyways?
i think it is important to be honest, I also think that it is important to sound smart.
I don’t think that these make me sound all that over- the -edge, do you ???
i’m not trying to say that I am a brainchild. these are my actual hobbies. I thought that they made me sound well-rounded, but I ended up giving a different impression.
I just really want this job, and wanted to see how they sounded, and get some advice before i had the interview.

Guys, Why do you NEED time just for you, or hobbies just for you?

My husband always brings up how he needs his time or his hobbies. I don’t understand this. I don’t have my time or need my individual hobby. As a women I feel that I sacrifice many of my freedoms or (what’s the word) hobbies? For my family. My number one priority is caring for my family, and their needs come first. But men, don’t do that, why? Why do men act or feel the need to act as though they are still single or free, when they have kids that need them? I don’t understand why men are so selfish, and don’t think there is nothing wrong with it. Why is it expected for women to sacrifice everything for the family and men nothing? Not that I have a problem with what I sacrifice, I love many family and it pleases me to care for them first. I just want to know why guys don’t do this. Why my husband doesn’t can’t go to a store and think of his kids or me first, why it’s always about him first.
