i would try a lot of hands on stuff. i know that working with arts and crafts is a load of fun for both teacher and student. have them draw self portraits of them selfs with a mirror. or make necklaces with different colored macaroni. =] good luck!

play a game called “scrambled eggs”
everyone sits in their seats except for 2 people, a hider and a guesser
the hider goes somewhere in the room where no one can see them and the guesser stands in the hallway or turned away from the rest of the class. once the hider and guesser are in place the rest of the class scrambles seats. after everyone has found a new seat the guesser then has to try and figure out what classmate is missing. if they guess right they go again but give them less time to guess this time.
this game gives children an opportunity to notice physical features of their classmates making it easier to recognize each other, plus they will love the activity
